Taking care of Duggie, my Assistance Dog in training, requires creativity, patience and love. Duggie isn’t just a dog; he’s my companion who offers anxiety relief and a sense of purpose. Though daily tasks can be challenging, his loyalty makes my efforts all worthwhile.
Caring for Duggie often involves some “creative thinking” to meet all his needs within the limits of my disability (we manage).
He has adapted to my limitations and wheelchair and happily runs in the park and has learned to jump on my knee, when asked, among other tasks. I have used adapted a magnetic collar and lead that require less hand function.
