About us

Home Caring Sutherland’s care team is led by Harry Sigdel, a disability and aged care professional with years of experience providing services in the community. After leaving behind a career in retail management, Harry worked as a support worker, helping people in the community live independently in their own homes. Driven by a passion for supporting others with excellent care, Hari continued his career in the care industry by becoming a NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner, and gaining specialised skills to support people with mental health issues, dementia and other complex care needs.

Harry has worked with a range of clients, from basic care to more complex needs. He is well-versed at managing a multidisciplinary team to achieve great outcomes. Harry loves seeing smiles on his client’s faces, and knowing they are enjoying a happy, healthy life.

We put you at the centre of your care

Providing expert care services isn’t about ticking tasks off a list. It’s about understanding who you are, and supporting you in a way that makes a genuine difference to your everyday activities.

That’s why the team at Home Caring Sutherland firmly believe in personalised care. We put you at the centre of your care plan, working with you to put together a range of services that best meets your needs, or helps you work towards your goals. We’re also flexible, providing services at a time that suits you, and adapting our care as your needs change over time.

We also provide compassionate care that treats you as a valued person. Our care workers take the time to get to know you, understand who you are, and provide services that are the right fit for you. We also love spending time with people, and building a positive relationship with our clients while walking alongside them in their care journey.

Whether we’re giving household assistance, providing meal preparation services, helping you with showering or grocery shopping with you, our friendly team is here to help you live life the way you want.

Our values

Our ‘person-first’ caring culture gives us a framework for our service. We:

  • Believe in putting the person first
  • Improve people’s lives
  • Collaborate
  • Care about the details
  • Deliver high quality care

On the ground level, this means:

  • We treat you as an individual – we respect your values and expressed wishes, and treat you as a unique person with their own life story.
  • We collaborate with you – you take an active role in your care, as we support you to make informed decisions, try new things, be more independent, and do things for yourself.
  • We communicate and listen – the best care happens when everyone is on the same page, so we take the time to listen, understand your needs, and work together for a great outcome.
  • We are sensitive to cultural and family needs – Home Caring supports people from many different cultures. We do all we can to help you live a meaningful life, and are sensitive to your background and family needs.
  • We value your independence – we focus on what people can do for themselves, and empower them to live as independently as possible. Our goal is to help you thrive, doing all the things that bring you meaning.
  • We value your dignity, comfort and safety – we aren’t just concerned about what we do; we also care about how we do it, and treat you with compassion and kindness.
  • We take a holistic approach to your care – we work with you to deliver a plan that truly cares for every aspect of your being, not just your health, but your wellbeing as well.

Happy Friday HC fam!

It’s been a busy and productive week here at Home Caring with only forty days till the end of the year we are full steam ahead! One highlight was the team-building and networking session with our amazing Home Caring Bankstown team. The workshop was a huge success bringing everyone together to learn, grow and strengthen our skills.

These sessions are such a valuable part of what we do as they foster connection, build efficiency and empower us to deliver the best care to our clients. As we all know being a support worker can sometimes feel isolating but moments like these remind us of the incredible community we’re all a part of.

Let’s all carry that energy into the weekend—it’s going to be a hot one, so stay cool and take care! 🩵

Happy Sunday HC fam! Recently our Home Caring Vermont team had the privilege of attending the 20th anniversary celebration of Hope City Mission, a vital organisation making a profound difference in our community. As proud sponsors we deeply admire their unwavering dedication to providing food relief, support and hope to those in need. Hope City Mission’s initiatives extend far and wide from their compassionate crisis support programs to sustainable efforts like planting seedlings, whose produce directly benefits people facing hardship. It’s a joy to stand beside them in their mission to uplift lives and foster resilience.

Our sponsorship reflects Home Caring’s core value of giving without expecting anything in return. We’re thrilled to have contributed to initiatives like installing a sprinkler system to nurture their community garden, where fresh produce is grown for those living in crisis. Supporting Hope City Mission means investing in kindness, growth and care and we couldn’t be prouder to play a part in their incredible journey. Here’s to creating positive change together! 🩵
